She has transcended the grime and sludge of Seattle in her mind. The first time I wanted Abby dead and was kinda under- whelmed by the ending, left feeling empty and lost, but after playing through it a second, third etc. It's not that type of game, tlou 1 didn't give you choices, It led you through the story as an observer, you don't get to choose wether or not to let them kill Ellie you just wait and see what Joel decided to do.

Gameplay and animations are amazing though. Wtf last part of old ellie were we gonna lose if she actually did what the point of the game was and she killed Abby? She's been murdering dogs and burning people alive. Ellie is just an asshole the whole game, only time I liked her were the like 10 minutes of her in the epiloge before she goes all sad emo in place of angry emo. Abby helping those kids wasn't out of her being a good person, it was because she felt guilty which kills the motivation for me. None of Abby's friends were likeable to me and I salivated every time one of them died. Why? Because I didn't spend any time with the dude, having me walk with him in the woods with sappy super positive attitude dialogue wasn't good enough to have me forget about the 15 hours I had with Joel. I didn't care about her losing her child murdering father. Well Joel, it’s gonna take a lot more for her to get that point.īecause I would've killed Abby and them not letting me do that was annoying. Joel soon after tells her she needs to stop letting people rile her up, and she said “it’s hard when they’re dicks,” and he says, “point still stands.”

She’s not satisfied by her revenge, nor his response to it, nor how it made her feel. He’s refreshed and that’s the way they need to go. She is even unable to appreciate a nice moment to share with Joel when seeing a deer, because she’s too focused on revenge. She’s pissed, immediately vindictive, and focuses on just that for the moment. Joel tricks her, and pushes her in the water.

When Joel is taking Ellie to her birthday surprise, we see how bad Ellie is at handling trauma, revenge, and acceptance, and how little effort is put in to making sure she can handle those well. I know I’m late to this discussion, but the game even kind of addresses the idea of hearing “revenge is bad” since the third grade and thinking it’s not worth discussing.Įvery little story is a microcosm of the big story.
